The mobile app
ShuleOne Connect is the ShuleOne app for phones and tablets. It does everything the parent view does in a browser, plus the things only a phone can do — push notifications, live bus tracking on a map, and photographing a document to send to a teacher.
Getting it
Section titled “Getting it”Android — ShuleOne Connect on Google Play.
iPhone and iPad — ShuleOne Connect on the App Store. Needs iOS 15.1 or later.
Both are free.
If you cannot install either — an older phone, no space, limited data — you lose nothing important. WhatsApp answers the same questions with nothing installed at all.
Signing in
Section titled “Signing in”Use the same details as the parent view:
- Username — your phone number, unless the school told you otherwise.
- Password — the one the school issued.
- Or Continue with Google, if the school holds a Google address for you.
Change the issued password to one only you know, from Settings, the first time you sign in. Schools issue the same default to everyone, so until you change it your account is not private.
If sign-in does not work, the school almost certainly has a different number for you than the one you are typing. Ask the office to check the guardian contact on your child’s record — it cannot be fixed from the app.
Finding your way around

More than one child
Section titled “More than one child”Use the child switcher at the top to change whose information you are seeing. Check it before reading a balance or a result — it is the commonest source of confusion.
What the app adds
Section titled “What the app adds”Push notifications. Fee reminders, absence alerts, results being released, bus alerts. This is the main reason to install it: the browser cannot reach you when it is closed.
Live bus tracking. ShuleTrack on a map, with boarding and drop-off alerts.
Attachments from your phone. Photograph a document or a receipt and attach it to a message to your child’s teacher, or send one from your photos.
Read-aloud learning. For the early years, the app uses the microphone and speech recognition to check reading-aloud activities. Your child reads to the phone and it listens.
English and Kiswahili. Switch in Settings.
The admin app
Section titled “The admin app”ShuleOne Admin is a separate app, for school staff rather than families. It is on Google Play and the App Store.
Signing in to it with a parent account will not work, and it would not show you your child if it did. Parents want Connect.
Learners use it too
Section titled “Learners use it too”The app is not only for parents. School students and independent learners sign in and get their own version — quests, code, games, progress, lessons, assignments, tests, videos, the library and their portfolio.
Teachers are the exception: the tutor tools are web-only, at portal.shuleone.co.ke.
Keeping it updated
Section titled “Keeping it updated”The app checks its version at launch, and a release the school considers essential will ask you to update before continuing.
Turn on automatic updates for it in Google Play. Fee and results screens change with the term, and a stale app is the cause of most “it shows the wrong balance” reports.
Notifications
Section titled “Notifications”If you are not receiving them:
- Check the phone’s settings — notifications must be allowed for ShuleOne Connect.
- Check your battery saver. Aggressive power saving on many Android phones stops background notifications; exclude the app.
- Check Settings in the app for which alerts you have enabled.
Do not turn everything off. Absence alerts and emergency notices are worth an interruption even when the daily ones are not.
Data and battery
Section titled “Data and battery”The app is built for Kenyan networks and is not heavy, but two things use real data: video lessons and live classes. Save those for Wi-Fi if your bundle is limited.
Live bus tracking uses the map only while you have the screen open.
Safety
Section titled “Safety”ShuleOne Connect will never ask for your M-Pesa PIN. Paying from the app starts an M-Pesa prompt that your own phone shows you, and you enter the PIN there.
Only install it from Google Play. An APK sent to you on WhatsApp is not the ShuleOne app, whoever it appears to come from.
