Academics overview
Academics covers everything from setting up an exam to publishing report cards. Go to Academics → Dashboard.
The dashboard answers the question a head of academics asks most often — is marks entry finished? Each exam shows how many subject sheets are complete, so you can chase the gaps rather than waiting for the deadline to discover them.
When the selected year or term has no analysed exam results, the dashboard still loads. The school average remains unavailable rather than showing zero. Choose a period with analysed results or complete exam analysis to populate it.
A term’s work, in order
Section titled “A term’s work, in order”- Set up grading — grading system, exam categories, remarks and report colours. Once per year, not once per term.
- Create the exam — name it, choose its category, pick the classes and subjects, and set the maximum marks.
- Enter marks — teachers fill their own subject sheets; an administrator can enter across all subjects.
- Analyse — check means, subject performance and outliers before anything is published.
- Comment — class teacher and head teacher comments, and termly conduct.
- Generate report cards — print, or send to parents.

Marks or rubrics?
Section titled “Marks or rubrics?”ShuleOne supports both assessment systems, and many schools run them side by side.
- Marks — a score out of a maximum, converted to a grade by the grading system. Used for 8-4-4 and for upper-grade CBC subjects that are examined numerically.
- Rubrics — a competency assessed against performance levels rather than a number. Used for CBC.
The choice is made per exam, so a school can assess Grade 3 by rubric and Form 3 by marks in the same term.
Academic issues
Section titled “Academic issues”Academics → Issues is a queue of queries raised against results — a mark that looks wrong, a missing subject, a student on the wrong sheet. Working the queue before publishing is much cheaper than reissuing report cards afterwards.
