What’s new — 19 October 2026

The stream selector now also applies to Subject analysis, Subject analysis per gender, Mean grade analysis, Mean grade per gender, Subject champions, Performance per stream, Best class per subject, and college Pass / Fail lists. Current results, previous-exam comparisons and totals use the selected stream. Subject champions are the top scorers within that stream, including ties. Choose All streams to compare streams or print whole-class results. Regenerate previously downloaded reports to apply these corrections.

Subject ranking now honours the stream selected in Exam Analysis. A stream-scoped PDF calculates the aggregate, subject means, grade counts, pass rates and comparison figures from that stream only, and its heading identifies the selected stream. Choose All streams for the whole-class ranking. Regenerate any stream ranking downloaded before this fix.

What’s new — 17 October 2026

Reanalysing an exam now preserves its saved class teacher remark when the comment bank has no remark for the calculated grade. A configured non-empty remark still updates the report. Regenerate downloaded report cards after correcting missing remarks or teacher assignments.

What’s new — 15 October 2026

Grade-distribution columns and calculated mean grades in exam analysis reports now exclude CBC labels for 8-4-4 classes and letter grades for CBC classes, even when legacy grade rows were assigned to the wrong category. Regenerate affected reports. Check Academics → Grading for each class before analysing again: subject and overall bands must both belong to that class’s curriculum. This report safeguard does not repair saved grading settings or previously saved results.

Exam reports now use the Spotlight dialog in both light and dark mode. A circular download indicator shows the percentage only when the file size is known; preparation shows elapsed time instead. Timeout and connection alerts include Try again and Close actions.

Report generation now shows elapsed preparation time, then download progress while the report arrives. Once the PDF is ready, choose Open PDF or Download PDF in the Your report is ready dialog. This also works when your browser blocks automatic popups. If no complete response arrives within three minutes, the screen explains the timeout; try again shortly or choose one stream for a smaller report.

Report cards use smaller print-sized copies of uploaded logos, photos and signatures to reduce download time. Original uploads are preserved.

What’s new — 14 October 2026

The FORM / CLASS field on individual and class report cards now shows the selected exam’s class after promotion. Regenerate previously downloaded PDFs to show the corrected class.

Whole-class merit lists now include students who have exam results but no assigned stream. Their stream column is blank in PDF and Excel exports. Choose All streams and regenerate the report; a selected-stream report still includes only that stream.

Class report cards now generate even when some learners have no scored subjects. Learners included in the class report with an exam summary can still receive a card with no subject results; their missing marks do not block other learners’ cards. Enter any outstanding marks and analyse the exam again before regenerating the reports when those results are ready.

What’s new — 13 October 2026

On non-international student report cards, Total points now shows the sum of subject grade points, matching PTS on the merit list. Prev shows the previous exam’s total points, and the change arrow compares these totals. For example, 46 points across eight subjects is 46 total points; 5.75 is the separate MN PTS (mean points) value on the merit list. International reports are unchanged. Regenerate existing PDFs to display the corrected totals.

What’s new — 12 October 2026

The individual report student picker includes learners with analysed marks in Herald internal assessments even though those reports do not assign positions. Learners without analysed marks remain excluded.

Non-international report cards now use each subject’s Convert to percentage setting consistently. When enabled, the score and maximum are out of 100. When disabled, the report keeps the raw mark and that subject’s exam Out of value. If subjects have different maxima, the score column says Max per subject and each score includes its denominator, such as 29/30.

Student and class comparison bars use the same scale. A score of zero is shown as zero; missing results show a dash. A missing previous result, or raw scores from papers with different maxima, does not produce an improvement or decline arrow. International report profiles retain their assigned scales and grading. Regenerate affected report cards to replace PDFs with an incorrect maximum heading.

What’s new — 12 October 2026

Printed report cards and planning PDFs show report content, grade keys and saved remarks without explanatory system notes.

International report cards retain the ShuleOne layout while omitting the overall summary cards and positions. Conduct uses the class curriculum’s system ratings, and typed class teacher remarks appear in the final remarks section. Student photos can now be switched off in Academics → Settings; a missing or unreadable upload never prints an empty photo box. Herald’s internal assessments use the approved Key Stage profiles described below.

Exam analysis

Run the analysis before you publish anything. Go to Academics → Exams and select Analysis on the exam.

The analysis gives you:

Mean score by subject and by class, so you can see which subject or stream is out of line.
Grade distribution, as counts per grade band.
Rankings, by student within a class and across the year group.
Subject comparison, which is the quickest way to spot a paper that was marked against the wrong maximum.

Treat an implausible result as a data problem until proved otherwise. A subject mean of 12% is almost always a maximum-mark error rather than a teaching one.

Subject ranking by stream

Open the exam’s Analysis page, choose a stream from Scope, then open Reports → Subject ranking. The PDF heading shows the chosen stream and every calculation uses only learners assigned to it. Change Scope before generating another stream; choose All streams when you want one ranking for the whole class.

Joint analysis

Where several exams are combined — the three exams of a term, or a common paper sat across branches — Joint Analysis merges them using the weightings on their categories.

This is what produces a term average rather than a single-exam result.

Exam Analysis v2 pilot

The separate Exam Analysis v2 page is for schools whose exam data has been prepared and checked by support. It does not replace the existing Analysis action automatically. Ask support for the correct migrated exam link; an existing exam’s number is not necessarily its number in the pilot.

Use Per Stream for stream means, Merit List for student rankings, and Whole School for comparisons across classes in the same term. Students without a stream remain included under – (No stream). Exam administrators can use Re-grade and Recompute positions after the pilot’s marks are ready.

Continue using the existing report-card and export workflow until support confirms the school’s transition. The pilot requires its separate schema, data migration, and comparison against existing results before operational use. Access stays scoped to the school currently selected.

Merit lists

A stream assignment is optional for the whole-class list. Students with eligible exam results appear even when their stream is missing; totals, grades and positions still use their saved exam results. Select All streams to include them.

From Academics → Exams → Analysis, choose Merit List, then select a report type and output format.

Report type	Best used for
Standard Merit List	A compact list of final subject marks, grades, totals and positions. It includes parent and child subjects.
Detailed Combined Merit List	A combined exam where every component mark must be visible beneath its parent subject. It prints on A1 landscape.
Exam Totals Summary	Comparing each component exam total, then the sum, exams sat, average, grade and final position.

Choose PDF for printing or Excel for filtering and further review. When a combined report has more columns than fit on one sheet, ShuleOne continues them on additional pages and repeats the identifying columns, so names and positions remain readable.

Student position per subject

Choose Student position per subject to compare each learner within their stream and across the whole class for every subject they sat. The two position columns use the following format:

S.POS — the learner’s subject rank within their stream, followed by the number of learners in that stream who sat the subject.
C.POS — the learner’s subject rank across the whole class, followed by the total number of learners who sat the subject.

For example, 1 / 8 under S.POS means first out of eight learners in the stream. Always download a newly generated PDF before printing; an older downloaded copy does not change when ShuleOne recalculates or corrects a report.

Remarks and comments

Report cards carry up to three comments: the subject teacher’s, the class teacher’s and the head teacher’s. Teachers write theirs from the marks sheet or the report screen, choosing from the comment bank or typing their own.

When exam analysis finds no class teacher comment in the remark bank for a learner’s grade, it keeps the remark already saved on that exam. A non-empty configured remark replaces it when the exam is analysed again. Remarks entered on the termly conduct grid continue to take priority on printed report cards.

Termly conduct

Academics → My teaching → Termly conduct records behaviour, attitude and conduct grades for the term. These print alongside the academic result.

It is the class teacher’s record, and the grid is scoped to the class and stream they are assigned in Class Teachers — a teacher of one stream rates that stream, not the whole class. An exam administrator works across the school.

The class teacher’s remarks column beside the ratings is saved with them and prints on the report card in place of the automatic grade-based remark. Leave it empty and the automatic remark is used as before.

Complete conduct before generating reports — it cannot be added to a report already produced without regenerating it.

Report cards

FORM / CLASS identifies the class assigned to the selected exam. For example, a Grade 1 exam still prints GRADE1 after the learner has been promoted to Grade 2.

From the exam, select Report cards.

Reports can be produced for a single student, a class, or the whole school. Before a bulk run, check:

Marks entry is complete for every subject — the dashboard shows the gaps.
Report dates are set for this term.
The stamp and signature are uploaded.
Comments and conduct are in.
The grading system has no gaps.

International report cards

The header, student details, academic table, conduct and attendance panels, and remarks/signatures retain the existing ShuleOne structure. International reports omit the overall mean, totals and position summary strip. CBC and 8-4-4 keep their grading and summary layout.

Part B prints saved termly conduct: Punctuality, Discipline & Conduct, Neatness, Sports/Clubs and Leadership. Cambridge’s system conduct labels are Emerging (EMG), Developing (DEV), Secure (SEC) and Extending (EXT). These conduct labels are separate from subject attainment bands. Missing ratings remain unfilled.

The final section is Part D: General Remarks & Signatures when financial status is disabled. When financial status is enabled, it remains Part D and the final section becomes Part E. Typed class teacher remarks from Termly Conduct take priority over automatic comments. Actual uploaded signatures and the configured school stamp print; demo signatures, stamps and ratings are never inserted into student records.

For international reports, the trend panel shows the learner’s own Mathematics results for available terms in the same academic cycle, class and assessment category, through the selected assessment date. The cycle starts with the class’s first-term assessment within the previous 12 months, so a December first term and the following April/July terms remain together. It does not invent missing terms or treat them as zero.

Student photographs

In Academics → Settings → Report form behaviour, use Include student photos on academic reports. The default is on for all schools; Herald starts with it off. Only a readable uploaded portrait prints. Disabled, missing or unreadable portraits leave no placeholder or reserved photo area. The school logo is unaffected.

Generate to PDF, then print or send.

Sending results to parents

Academics → Send Exam Results delivers results to guardians without printing.

Choose the exam and the classes.
Choose the channel — SMS, or email with the report card attached.
Choose what to include. An SMS is short: usually the mean grade, position and a line of comment. Email can carry the full report.
Preview against one student, then send.

Delivery goes to the guardian contacts on the student record, so results only reach the parents whose details are current. Sending is logged in communication history.

Understanding the send analytics

The analytics separate student processing from parent/guardian phone delivery:

Students sent, students skipped, student errors and total students count the student records handled by the job. Student errors mean a notification could not be dispatched; they do not refer to the student’s exam performance.
Phones delivered, pending and failed count the individual guardian phone numbers that received an SMS attempt.

One student can have more than one valid guardian number. For example, a job can finish for 30 students but show 53 phone recipients because some students’ results were sent to both parents. Each phone receives its own delivery report.

Filter analysis reports by stream

In Academics → Exams → Exam Analysis, select a stream before generating a report. Stream reports show only that stream’s learners and use the same stream for the previous-exam comparison. Gender reports break down learners within the selected stream; their total also belongs to that stream. A stream’s subject champions are ranked within that stream.

Select All streams for whole-class totals, all-stream gender analysis, and comparisons in Performance per stream or Best class per subject. Single report forms and performance history follow the student selected in the picker.
